2015-2016 FAFSA School Code List

I have officially modified the website according to the 2015-2016 FAFSA School Code List.  All the links have been modified, and the list of schools and universities has been updated.  

You should take note of the changes, and verify that any school you are interested in is still there. More schools are gone this year than I’ve ever seen before, but there are some good ones added.

Inaugural Virtual Study Abroad Fair Prepares U.S. Students for Global Workforce

On February 25, the U.S. Department of State, in partnership with the Institute of International Education (IIE) and CollegeWeekLive, will host a virtual study abroad fair for U.S. high school and university students to learn more about the benefits of study abroad, program options, potential host countries, and funding opportunities. Students who study abroad, learn a new language, and immerse themselves in a different culture gain critical skills necessary to collaborate across borders and become competitive in the global workforce.

Students will be able to chat live with over 50 university representatives and other exhibitors from 13 different countries, including representatives from the U.S. Department of State. They will learn about study abroad programs, internships abroad, and service learning opportunities. Video presentations will discuss the value of study abroad for professional development and guide students on how to choose and finance an exchange program, prepare for the experience, and apply for scholarships.

2015-2016 FAFSA School Code List

I have officially modified the website according to the 2015-2016 FAFSA School Code List.  All the links have been modified, and the list of schools and universities has been updated.  

You should take note of the changes, and verify that any school you are interested in is still there.  Once again, the number of possibilities has continued to decrease. There were more than 10 schools removed from the list and only 3-4 added in. Argentina had a university added, as the only new country on the list.  

2014-2015 FAFSA School Code List

I have officially modified the website according to the 2014-2015 FAFSA School Code List.  All the links have been modified, and the list of schools and universities has been updated.  

You should take note of the changes, and verify that any school you are interested in is still there.  There were quite a few changes as many schools were dropped off the list and a few new ones were added.  I am sure that some people are going to be disappointed ~ there were far more removals than additions, including many that surprised me.  On the other hand, if you have always wanted to visit Saba, (a small island in the Caribbean which I am, for some reason only just hearing about), their medical school was added.

In response to the previous article talking about the US Espionage Video.  I’m not sure how much of it is true, but I pretty much find it despicable that any nation would endanger the welfare and futures of students in that manner.

Three weeks after the FBI rolled out an odd, ripped-from-the-headlines microfilm about an American college student who was recruited to spy for Beijing, China has now released its own, very similar tales of young Chinese students being lured into espionage activities by foreign agents.

The student spying stories come as the U.S. is trying to encourage more Americans to study in China, and as China has become the biggest source of foreign students in U.S. colleges and universities.

Sarah Edgar Earns one of 65 Scholarships to Study Abroad

“The U.S. Department of State has awarded Sarah Edgar, a high school student at Logan County High School one of 65 scholarships to study abroad on the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad Program. The competitive, merit-based award covers the full cost of an academic year abroad, providing Sarah a full immersion experience through living with a host family in Bosnia and Herzegovina, attending a Bosnian high school, and helping her develop the skills necessary to be a leader in the global community. The YES abroad program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

 

Through Sarah’s participation in the YES Abroad program, she will be at the forefront of citizen diplomacy, serving as a “youth ambassador” in her host country, promoting . . . . “
